 Jean Audouze, an astrophysicist and research director at the CNRS (National Scientific Research Centre),

 

was also scientific advisor to the President of the French Republic from 1989 to 1993, director of the “Palais de la Découverte” Science Museum in Paris from 1998 to 2004, and senior lecturer in Physics at the Ecole Polytechnique from 1974 to 1989.

He has been senior lecturer at the Paris Institute of Political Science since 1990, is vice-chairman of the French national commission on UNESCO, and France’s representative on the secretariat of the Committee on Space Research (COSPAR). 

Jean Audouze has written several works, notably Aujourd'hui l'univers (“The Universe Today”) (Belfond), L'univers (“The Universe”) (P.U.F.), Regards sur le visible (“Looking at the Visible”) (Plon) and Enquête sur l'univers (“Investigation into the Universe”) (Nathan).

Together with Michel Cassé and Jean-Claude Carrière he is the co-author of Conversations sur l'invisible (“Conversations about the Invisible”) (Press Pocket).
